Elizabeth Khare

Elizabeth (Betsy) Carle Khare, 77, of Cornwall, passed away on Thursday, May 21 after a long illness.

The daughter of the late John and Ruth Khare, she was born on Jan. 11, 1943 in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Betsy was an accomplished pianist and scholar, having graduated from Cornwall Central High School and attended Ohio Wesleyan University. She had a long career in medical records at both Cornwall and St. Luke’s hospitals. As a lifelong member of the Cornwall United Methodist Church, she enjoyed the fellowship and her service to her church family.

She is survived by her brother John and his wife Penny; niece Kimberly and her wife Lorrie; nephew Scott and his wife Claudine; plus great-niece Paige and great-nephew Tyler Khare. She also leaves behind many dearly loved cousins.

The family is grateful to the staffs at New Windsor Country Inn and Wingate at Beacon for their loving care of Betsy.

Graveside services and burial in Willow Dell Cemetery will be private due to the pandemic. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Betsy’s name to the Cornwall United Methodist Church.

James ‘John’ O’Mara

July 28, 1954 -May 19, 2020

Cornwall-on-Hudson

After a short and courageous battle with cancer, James “John” O’Mara of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on May 19 at home, with Beatle music playing, and his loved ones surrounding him. He was 65.

The son of James Edward O’Mara and Elizabeth (Geggenheimer) O’Mara, John was born on July 28, 1954 in Newburgh.  He owned O’Mara’s Tavern in New Windsor from 1980-1989. He retired from USMA, West Point after 29 years.

A humble, authentic man with immense character and wit, John’s love of his family and friends inspired us all. John loved his childhood and growing up in New Windsor, his Catholic faith, his adopted hometown (COH) and Cliffside Park neighbors, the Cornwall Public Library, the Woodstock radio station and the New York Jets and Mets. Upon retirement, John enjoyed some of the happiest moments of his life, visiting England with his family and taking care of his granddaughter, Mabel.

John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years: Mary (Monahan) O’Mara at home; his devoted children, Kelly A. (O’Mara) Ovenell and her husband, Neil, of London, England and Casey C. O’Mara and her husband, James Arrabito, of Wayne, N.J.; and his pride and joy, granddaughter, Mabel Grace Arrabito; his siblings: Charles and Gail O’Mara, Eileen and Joseph Potter, Betsy O’Mara, and special cousin, Kathy Kissel; John and Peg Monahan, Thomas Monahan, and mother-in-law, Grace Monahan; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he treasured.

James T. Tucci

June 22, 1970 -May 6, 2020

Cornwall-on-Hudson

James T. Tucci, of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on May 6 at home. He was 49 years old.

The son of Anthony J. Tucci, Jr. and Lynda A. (Lynch) Tucci of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Jimmy was born on June 22, 1970 in Peekskill.

After graduating from Cornwall Central High School, class of 1989, Jimmy earned his associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Orange County Community College and went on to have a successful career as a nuclear security officer at Entergy Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan.

Jimmy enjoyed all forms of exercise and body building and was committed to having a healthy body. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle and will be missed beyond words.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is survived by his siblings: Anthony J. Tucci, III and his wife Lisa of Londonderry, N.H. and Laura L. Tucci of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his nephews Anthony J. Tucci IV and wife Emily, Michael and Dominic Tucci; his grandniece and grandnephew Anthony J. Tucci V and Gianna Tucci; his aunts Mary Manna, Ann Marie Borda and Linda Jane McCloskey; his uncle James Lynch and wife Lisa.; and many cousins and friends.

Entombment was due to take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Middle Hope. Due to the public health concerns of the Corona Virus (Covid-19), memorial services for Jimmy will be held at a later date. Please refer to www.Quigleybros.com, for further information.
