Ruth N. Duttweiler

Ruth N. Duttweiler (nee Newman), 95, of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, Nov. 26. She was a former resident of Cornwall.

The daughter of Benjamin and Kathryn (nee Loskarn), she was born on May 31, 1924 in Flushing, NY.

Ruth received her master’s degree in Education from SUNY at New Paltz. She was a fifth and sixth grade elementary teacher and retired from the Monroe Woodbury School District. She was always busy, reading, cooking, knitting and traveling.

She is survived by her loving children Jean Walker (John W.) and Robert Duttweiler (Cheryl); cherished grandchildren Scott Walker (Kate), Sean Walker (Jojo), Steven Walker (Kathy) and Sirirast Promin; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Herbert W. and her son, Roger Duttweiler.

Thomas M. Greevy, Jr.

Cornwall-on-Hudson

Thomas M. Greevy, Jr., of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on Nov. 28 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 78 years old.

The son of the late Thomas M. Greevy, Sr. and Katherine (Clarke) Greevy, Thomas was born on Nov. 8, 1941 in Philadelphia.

Thomas was a Racquet Sports Professional for The Tuxedo Club in Tuxedo Park, for over 40 years.

He was an active member of the St. Joseph/St. Thomas of Canterbury parishes for many years.

“Thomas loved his friends and family above all else,” his family said. “He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed greatly.”

Thomas was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Ruth (Stickles) Greevy, and his sister Margaret Hogentogler. He is survived by his children Matthew Greevy and his wife Ann, Kara Greevy and her significant other Paul Biagiotti, and Damien Greevy all of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his adoring granddaughter Lucy; and his brother Michael Greevy and his wife Maureen of Warrington, Penn.

Visitation was due to be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
