Ruth M. Babcock

November 23, 1940-March 25, 2016

Ruth M. Babcock, of Cornwall entered into rest on Friday, March 25.  She was 75.

The daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Hand O’Dell, she was born on Nov. 23, 1940 in Cornwall.

Ruth spent her life caring for others, working for several years as a nursing assistant at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. She also was a nanny to many local children.  She loved gardening, antiques, and travelling to Model A Ford events with her husband.  She especially loved participating in the Cornwall Fourth of July Parades with the Model A Restorers Club. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Orrin, at home; children: Debbie Monroe and husband Timothy, Laurieann Skinner and husband Laurence, Brian Babcock and wife Yuko; grandchildren: Adam and Shannon Monroe, Lee Skinner, Bryce and Brady Babcock; great-grandchildren: Brianna and Brody Monroe; six sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Her family received visitors on March 29 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.   A graveside service was held on March 30 at 12 noon at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville.

Michael J. Lawlor

August 10, 1957-March 22, 2016

Michael J. Lawlor, of New Windsor entered into eternal rest on March 22 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 58 years old.

The son of the late Michael L. Lawlor and Carol Hess Lawlor, Michael was born on Aug. 10, 1957 in Jersey City, N.J. He was a Truck Driver for Anderson Logistics in Allendale, NJ.

“Michael had a one-of-a-kind personality and sense of humor,” his family said. “He always put everyone before himself.  He loved nothing more than coaching and helping out the youth of Cornwall through all of the sports programs.”

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Christina M. Lawlor, at home; his sons, Sean M. Flynn of New Windsor, Derrick M. Lawlor of Morristown, N.J. and Tyler J. Lawlor of New Windsor; Michael was a beloved brother-in-law and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Visitation was held on Saturday, March 26 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, N.Y.
