Agent rescues woman in car fire

At 11:45 this morning, a Main Street businesswoman heard an explosion and looked out the window to see a car going up in flames. While the woman called for help, Pat Harris of Smitchger Realty rushed into the street, reached into the burning car, and rescued the driver — who was able to get out without getting hurt.

The explosion occurred on Main Street near Torrey Lane. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but remained on the scene long after the flames were out. Motorists used Broadway and Clinton Street as a detour.
