Warrant vacated after “no show”

After Lisa Castanon missed a court date last week, Judge Lynn Beesecker signed a warrant for her arrest.

The warrant didn’t remain active, however, because the judge vacated it based on the information he received from the defendant’s attorney.

Ms. Castanon, a 44-year-old Wappingers Falls resident had been charged with DWI on Nov. 25 when her vehicle got snagged on the tracks in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and got hit by a train.

Ms. Castanon suffered serious injuries that kept her from appearing in court on Dec. 17. The case was rescheduled for Jan. 21. But Ms. Castanon missed that date and offered no excuse for her absence.

A few days later, her attorney said that Ms. Castanon was still recovering from her injuries and didn’t know that she was expected in court on the 21st.

The case is now scheduled to be heard on Feb. 18.
