Bannerman Island restoration continues

Pollepel Island, more commonly known as Bannerman Island, officially kicked off the tour season on May 4, but members of the press were invited to visit the island, earlier last week, and see, first-hand, the progress of restoration efforts.

On May 25, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, on Bannerman Island, to mark the opening of a new bridge, constructed by 11 West Point cadets majoring in civil and mechanical engineering.

On June 24, Cindy Jebb was promoted to brigadier general and officially confirmed as the new Dean of the Academic Board at the United States Military Academy. Jebb, an 11-year resident of Cornwall before moving to West Point, is the 14th person to hold the position and the first female to do so. President Barack Obama nominated her for the position, making the announcement in May.
