Shortly after 1 p.m., Nicole Johnson, 28 of Croton, was traveling northbound on Route 9W, in her father’s 2011 Hyundai Sonata, when she noticed smoke coming from under the hood. As she pulled over she noticed the vehicle was on fire. Johnson was able to safely exit the car and suffered no injuries. When Cornwall Fire Department arrived on the scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The blaze was caused by an unknown mechanical malfunction.
