Roe Goldsmith of Chiefland, FL, formerly of Cornwall, NY, died peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Roe is predeceased by his parents, loving wife, Joan(McCue) Goldsmith, his son-in-law, Keith Marroon. He is survived by his daughters Debi Marroon, Cornwall, Tami (Bob Donaldson) Donaldson, of Florida, son Bill Goldsmith, and his wife, Susan Goldsmith of Cornwall. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His loving companion. Carolyn Redmond and her children, Keith and Kim and her grandchildren. Roe served in the US Navy, he was a proud veteran a member of the VFW and the AMVETS.

Gladys J. Platania, a longtime resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY passed away peacefully at the age of 100 at The AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington, NC on Monday, July 17, 2023. She was born on April 18, 1923 to James and Mae Cairns in Andes, NY and grew up in Bovina Center, NY.
On December 24, 1942 she married Salvatore Platania and they remained married for 68 years until his death in June 2011. She is survived by her son Daniel (Veronica) Platania of Cranberry Township, PA; her sister Dawn Clark of Anderson, SC; grandchildren Jennifer Platania (James Ayersman) of Burlington, NC; Christopher (Meagan) Platania of Huntersville, NC; great granddaughter Elliette Platania of Huntersville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her son Richard Platania; her grandson Richard Platania Jr; her brothers Walter and Leonard, and her sister Louise.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 66 Clinton Avenue, Cornwall, NY on August 12, 2023 at 10:30am.
