Barbara Morris Deutsch, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on July 14, 2023 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. She was 83 years old.
The daughter of the late William W. Morris and Jean (Kellogg) Morris, Barbara was born on May 7, 1940 in East Orange, NJ.
Barbara was a retired Teacher in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District, Central Valley, NY. After retiring from Monroe-Woodbury she continued teaching at BOCES and OCCC. Earlier in her career she was an editor for Penguin Books, Houghton-Mifflin, McGraw-Hill and a technical editor for the Geological Society of America.
Barbara can best be described as a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother; a person of the highest standards in educational excellence, uncompromising moral and ethical values, and advocate for social justice. She has had a positive impact on everyone who has known her. She also loved reading, music, theater and movies, and was an expert in old Broadway shows. Going to the beach with her family was one of her favorite things to do. She will be missed greatly.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband: Stephen Deutsch at home; her sons: David L. Deutsch and his wife Samantha of Manhattan, NY and Gregory K. Deutsch of Morristown, NJ; 4 grandchildren: Matthew T, Annika M., Jackson R. and Julianna G. Deutsch her brother: Robert K. Morris and his wife Pamela of Loudon, NH.; several nieces and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother: William W. Morris.
As per Barbara’s wishes, services will be private. A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
