Emily Faxon Gallo

Emily Faxon Gallo, long-time resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2023 in Highland, NY.  She was 78.  She was the daughter of George Harmon Faxon and Nancy Plummer Faxon of Brookline, Massachusetts.  She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Dorothy Delay and Joseph Fuchs.  For many years, she was the Assistant Concertmaster of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic.  She also played with the HVP String Quartet, the Poné Ensemble for New Music, and was a founding performer with the annual Bach Festival in North Conway, New Hampshire.  In her pre-mom days, Ms. Faxon was three times awarded Full Fellowships to the Tanglewood Music Center.  She played for the Long Island Philharmonic, the American Symphony, Clarion Concerts, Pro Arte, and had recorded for MCI, Albany, and Soundspell Records.  She was one of the founders of the Hudson Valley Society for Music, which produces the Potluck Concerts series and the Hudson Valley BachFest. Ms. Faxon was also an amateur ballerina, a knitter, a visual artist, and in her own words, “a voracious reader of trash.” She lived and taught many private violin students in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  She is survived by her sister, Penni Golowka and her husband, Michael of Newport, NH; brother, Walter Faxon of Attleboro, MA; son, Christopher Gallo of Kingston, daughter Tenaya Gallo of New Paltz, two granddaughters, and many friends and colleagues.  May she rejoice forever with friends, music, cats, and coffee.  There will be no services.  Memorial contributions in her honor can be made to the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Foundation, 61 Lake Meadow Drive, Rochester, NY 14612. James P. Sebesta

November 21, 1967—January 26, 2023

Cornwall, NY

James P. Sebesta, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on January 26, 2023 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.  He was 55 years old.

The son of the late Paul W. Sebesta, Jr. and Margaret L. (Conley) Sebesta, James was born on November 21, 1967 in Cornwall, NY.  

James was the Head Automotive Mechanic in charge of fleet maintenance for the Village of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY for over 22 years.  He was the active President of his local CSEA unit. 

A family statement reads: James LOVED camping at Neversink River Campground, NASCAR, having fun with family.  From an early age, he loved tinkering with things, learning how they worked and how to fix them.  He was into creating interesting meals for his family to try. He also loved going to Lake George for the Hot Rod show & winter carnival.  His laughter and wisecracking ways will always bring a smile to your face.  Jimmer will be missed greatly.

James is survived by his sons: Raymond and Tyler (Delaney) Sebesta; his grandchildren: Kristopher, Aubrey, and soon-to-be born Riley James; his siblings: Paula Howard (Donny), Kristen Sebesta-Boyle(tj), Patricia Bates (Kenny), Carmen Jimenez (Bobbie), and Paul G. Sebesta (Linda); and the “love of his life” Karin Sharpsteen.  In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brother-in-law: Jack Boyle.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1st at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2nd at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 66 Clinton Street, Cornwall, NY.  Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

Memorial Contribution’s in James name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Dominick A. Vigliotti

June 25, 1934—January 25, 2023

Mountainville, NY

Dominick A. Vigliotti, of Mountainville, NY entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old.

The son of the late Dominick Vigliotti and Josephine (Saccavino) Vigliotti, Dominick “Tony” was born on June 25, 1934 in the Bronx, NY.  

Dominick was a retired Mason for the United States Military Academy at West Point for many years.

Dominick honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps from 1952 to 1960 during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Union Avenue Fitness Center and after his retirement found joy in being a bus driver for West Point Tours. He will be missed greatly.

Dominick is survived by his loving wife: Grace F. Vigliotti at home; his son: Dominick A. Vigliotti, Jr. and his wife Pangea of Fishkill, NY; his daughter Lisa Morasse and her husband Richard of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY; his grandchildren: Anthony, Joseph, Brandon, Jacquelynn, Monika, Brittany, Tyler; his great grandchildren: Alexandra, Matthew, Bailey, Johannes, and Joslynn; his sister: Angeline Mans; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by daughter JoAnn Vigliotti and son Robert Nery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2nd at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  Inurnment with Military Honors will follow the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
