Claire A. Maloney

Claire Anne Maloney (McDonald) died the evening of November 30, 2021 at the age of 96 after a valiant fight with old age. For the last five years she resided at The Commons at St. Anthony, a nursing home in Auburn, NY. She was born on February 4, 1925 to Walter T. & Margaret (Horan) McDonald and grew up in Woodside Queens, New York. She graduated from Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Queens and Katharine Gibbs in Manhattan. Claire was employed at NCR in Manhattan before marrying Vincent L. Maloney. She raised three children while living in Queens, Newburgh, Vails Gate and for 48 years in Cornwall-on-Hudson. She worked as a bookkeeper for numerous companies in Orange County before retiring in 1985. Her passions were playing the piano, painting, playing bridge and traveling. In retirement, she split her time between Cornwall, Florida and Union Springs, NY where she spent all of her summers.

She was predeceased by her husband Vincent (April 12, 2012) and her two brothers Walter Timothy McDonald and William Gerard McDonald. She is survived by her three children: Karen Stamp (Gary), Keith Maloney (Diane Mingoia) and Craig Maloney (Lori Goodale). She is also survived by two grandchildren: Caitlin Stamp LoPresti (Andrew) and Madison Maloney. Claire was interred in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Union Springs, NY. A mass and memorial celebrating her life was held on July 23, 2022 for family members.
