Ted LaMothe

Theodore George LaMothe, 82, passed away from heart complications June 15, 2022, at Long Beach Medical Center.

Ted graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1958, then served our country in the U.S. Army, and earned a Masters Degree in English at Cal State. He worked as a logistics manager for Rockwell International, and also taught English.

He was the third child of six born to Alice and Harry LaMothe. Growing up he was a skilled tennis player at the Powelton Club in Newburgh, and in California ran many 5K races, determined to win his age group. He loved all sports, college and pro, with a special passion for the NY Yankees.

Ted loved literature, and his speech was filled with quotes from the world’s finest works, but he could also tell you Rabbit Maranville’s 1918 batting average. He also loved his nieces and nephews and often bought them small gifts he thought they would like. He was a big-hearted man, whose family will miss him.

He is survived by his son Jeffrey of Murietta, CA, and three grandchildren, Matthew, Kali and Abbi. Services will be held July 7 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.

Kenneth “Hammer” Rhodes

December 27, 1963—February 16, 2022

On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Kenny “Hammer” Rhodes, aged 58, passed away surrounded by family and friends after a short illness.

Formerly from Cornwall, he was residing in Rocky Mount, NC. Kenny was predeceased by his parents, Caroline and Myron Rhodes, as well his brother, Billy.

He is survived by his loving daughters Sarah Rhodes, of Cornwall, Melissa Rhodes of Puyaliup, WA and stepdaughter, Alicia McDonnell (Sean) of New Windsor, sisters Varielta Picard (Don) of LaGrange, and Myra Jean (Claude) of Charlotte, NC, and nieces, Kerry, Krissy, Laura, Michelle and Erika, as well as many friends across America.

For a change of scenery, Kenny embarked on a journey to NC to spend time with his childhood friend, Steve Annan, and his family. In his younger years, he could be found at Bowling Time, fishing at the Hudson River or hanging out with friends. Kenny was well loved by many and was quick to return that love. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, cooking, helping friends paint their homes and sharing a cold one with anyone.

His final wishes were to be cremated and during a Celebration of Life Ceremony on June 25, at 2 p.m., his ashes are to be scattered in the wind at Kowawese Unique Area, Rt. 9W N., New Vindsor, NY.
