Zachary T. Quinn

September 7, 1995 – July 16, 2021

Cornwall, NY

Zachary T. Quinn, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on July 16, 2021 at Einstein Hospital in the Bronx, NY, after a brief serious illness, which he gallantly fought for 6 weeks. He was 25 years old. His family is shocked and deeply saddened by their loss. 

The son of Curtis J. Quinn and Marygrace (Luzzi) Quinn, Zack was born on September 7, 1995 in Shreveport, LA.  

Zack graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 2013 and attended Dutchess Community College.  Zack was a Security Officer for Blue Eagle Security, Inc. in Middletown, NY.

Zack loved making people smile with magic, jokes, and his most recent hobby his YouTube channel The Challenge Shack. He was a bright and kind individual. Anyone who knew Zack knew that he was a shoulder to lean on and always a source of positivity for anyone who needed it. He will be missed greatly.

In addition to his parents at home, Zack is survived by his sister: Kristen M. Quinn and nephew Hunter Quinn-Harris of Titusville, FL; grandmother, Delphine Quinn, Uncle, Pete Quinn, of the Bronx; Godparents, Mark and Connie Sheppard of Staten Island; many cousins and dear friends. 

Based on new CDC guidelines adopted by NYS, fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced in the funeral home. 

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 23rd at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.  A Chapel Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24th at the funeral home.  Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

John V. Staples

July 31, 1929—June 9, 2020

Please join the Staples family to celebrate John’s 90 years of a life well-lived. 

On July 31st, there will be a mass at St. Thomas of Canterbury, 340 Hudson St. at 10 a.m., with burial following at St. Thomas Cemetery on Mailler Ave.  

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Kowawese Interpretive Center (off 9W in New Windsor) at 12:30 p.m. to share memories and laughter. A light lunch will be served.

George Leighton Tholken, Jr.

July 17, 1939—July, 5 2021

Sarasota, FL

George L Tholken, Jr. passed peacefully from this life on earth to his eternal home in heaven on July 5, 2021 in Dunlap, TN at the home of his son, Gregory. George was born in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY on July 17, 1939 to George L. Tholken, Sr. and Sarah “Sally” Elizabeth Lamont Tholken.

He grew up in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY where he graduated from The Storm King School in 1957. Following graduation, George received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego where he met the love of his life, Martha Sue Letts.

George enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1963, and and went on to complete Officer Candidate School (OCS).

George received the National Defense Service Medal, and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander in 1967. He married M. Sue Letts on December 28, 1963, and they were married for 56 years. He owned Hillside Service Center in Danbury, CT for fifteen years. They moved to Sarasota, Florida where he worked as an Air Conditioner technician for 20 years before his retirement in 2002.

Survivors include his son, Gregory (Rebecca) Tholken of Dunlap, TN; and daughter, Pamela Tholken of Sarasota, FL; his four grandchildren: William (Meghan) Tholken, Noelle (Brett) Steele, Garrett (Savana) Tholken, and Jenifer Tholken; his four great-grandchildren: Jaylin and Eli Steele; Edward and Ellery Tholken.

George and Sue traveled the country, visiting National Parks and other points of interest along the way, with their grandchildren during the summer months for about 20 years following their retirement.

George was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Martha Sue Letts Tholken. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist in Chattanooga, TN.
