John Vincent Ginda Sr.

John Vincent Ginda Sr., of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 8 at his home. He was 74 years old.

The son of Teddy and Rose Ginda, John was born on Oct. 28, 1945 in Suffern. He graduated from Haverstraw High School and was a foreman for Orange and Rockland Utilities for 42 years and a volunteer fireman his entire life.

John was a proud, loyal, and caring man who loved his family and friends deeply. He would help anyone he knew; always putting others’ needs before his own. He worked hard every day of his life and fought to live until the very end. He will be missed always.

John is survived by Sharon, his wife of 50 years; his son John Jr. and his wife Jacqueline; his daughter Lori Beth and her husband Gregg; his mother Rose; his sisters: Nancy and Rosemarie; brothers: Alex, Robert, and Edward. He had eight grandchildren whom he loved fiercely; Bethanny, Danell, John III, Kathryn, Grace, Rose, Michael, and Matthew. They will always keep him in their hearts.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Barbara Catherine (Lorz) Reilly

March 23, 1937 – December 1, 201

Barbara left this world unexpectedly but lived her life to the fullest and always on the go. She was a wonderful mother sister, aunt and friend.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband: James Reilly. They shared 56 years of marriage before his death in January of 2017. Barbara leaves behind her two daughters: Karen and her fiancée Michael Scanlon and Mary Ellen; her granddaughter Jade; her sister: Cathie and her husband Steve; and many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by her family as well as friends, including her travel buddies from Idlewild Creek.

Memorial visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A chapel service was held immediately after visitation. Inurnment will take place at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Dennis J. Wood

April 5, 1944-December 5, 2019

Cornwall-on-Hudson

Dennis J. Wood of Cornwall-on-Hudson passed away on Dec. 5 at the age of 75, after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Dennis, born April 5, 1944, was the son of Julia (Parliman) Charbonneau and step son of Jeremiah Charbonneau. Dennis lived most of his life in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

He was a proud member of the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, he was a Journeyman Ironworker with Ironworkers Local 417 in Newburgh. After retiring from the Ironworkers, he worked at the United States Military Academy at West Point and retired as a Planner/Estimator.

Dennis was a life member of the Storm King Engine Company #2 in Cornwall on Hudson. He served for 47 year as a Volunteer Firefighter and held multiple positions, including President and Assistant Chief.

Dennis was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, rooting for his team to the end.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Maureen A. (McDonough); his son, Jeremy Wood and wife, Andrea of Washingtonville, ; and the light of his life, granddaughter Ava Wood. In addition, he is survived by his cousin, Richard Hillman of Milford, N.H. and other cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday Dec. 13, at the Storm King Engine Company #2 Community Room, 233 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson from 4 to 7 p.m.
