Eloise H. Mills

September 17, 1935 – April 19, 2019

formerly of Cornwall

Eloise Mills was born Sept. 17, 1935 in Rummel, Penn., and died April 19, 2019 in hospice care at home in Mahopac.

Affectionately called Squeegee, she was first of four, born to Clifford and Ruth (Weaver) Holsinger. She graduated from Juniata College in 1957, prepared to be a public school teacher. She was a passionate educator completing master degree studies at SUNY New Paltz.

Her first marriage was a double wedding with her sister Illene. The family moved from Pennsylvania to New York in 1964. She taught in Yorktown Heights at Crompond, Mildred E. Strang, and for BOCES GRE courses until 1995.

In 1991 she married Richard Mills, then pastor of the Cornwall-on-Hudson Presbyterian Church, retiring to Mahopac in 2000.

In the Cornwall Church she was a deacon, in Yorktown an elder, on committees of Presbytery, co-moderating Presbyterian Women. Other interests included Tres Dias, gardening on Constitution Island, and tennis.

Living family include her son, Dr. Keith Douds, wife Sheri, daughters Kara and Juliane; daughter Lesley Sweeney, husband Kenneth, daughters and son, Kendall, Molly and Brett; husband Richard; and two bonus sons for Squeegee, Aaron Mills, his wife Kathy, their daughters and son, Caroline, Julia Annan, Lauren Fischer, Sydney, Gretchen, Natalie and Eric, and Dr. Peter Mills, wife Phoebe and their daughter Audrey; sister Kathy, husband Bob Fabish, daughters and son; and brother Merle Holsinger whose wife Jane died a month ago, their daughters, son and now extended families.

Squeegee will be lovingly remembered for her kind and generous spirit to others.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 2880 Crompond Rd Yorktown, Saturday, May 25 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers we suggest donations to Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam, 540 White Plains Rd, Ste 300, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

Garry Selby

May 1, 2019

Newburgh

Our Dearly Beloved, Garry M. L. Selby, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2019 at the age of 58, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Garry attended the Highland Falls School System and graduated from James I. O’Neill High School. He worked at the United States Military Academy at West Point for 38 years.

Garry is survived by his wife, Renee Selby; four children and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 11 at The Cathedral at the House, 127-131 Broadway, Newburgh. Pastor April Birks officiated. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

Georgia A. Wallace

August 12, 1932 – May 3, 2019

Fort Montgomery

Georgia A. “Sissy” Wallace, 86, a lifelong resident of Highland Falls/Fort Montgomery, passed away on May 3, 2019 at The Valley View Center for Nursing Care and Rehabilitation in Goshen. Daughter of the late Sterling James Gazaway and Marie Anthes Gazaway, she was born August 12, 1932 in Highland Falls.

She graduated from Highland Falls High School in 1949 and she went to work for TWA Airlines in New York City. Sissy married the love of her life, Jimmy Wallace, on June 14, 1958 in Highland Falls where they raised their family and served the community.

Sissy was a retired banking officer for HSBC Bank in Highland Falls. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Holy Innocents where she served as treasurer and headed the Food Pantry and Thrift Shop. She was also a Board Member of Fort Montgomery Battle Site Association and a member of the Town of Highlands Historical Society.

Sissy is survived by her devoted husband, James, at home; her three children: Kim Kort and husband Ronald of Highland Falls, Kelly Stang and husband Douglas of Altamont, and Scott Wallace and daughter-in-law, Laurie of Smithtown; her beloved six grandchildren – Katelyn Wilson and husband Bryan, Meghan Kort and fiancé Paul Malecot, Andrew and Lucas Stang, Sara and Emily Wallace, as well as her cherished two great-grandchildren; Jackson and Brayden Wilson. Sissy is also survived by her sister Barbara Bott of Highlands Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister Virginia Cahill of Dunnellon, Fla.

A Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, May 14 at Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of Highlands.

Robert R. Walker

January 25, 1947 – May 10, 2019

Cornwall

Robert “Skip” R. Walker, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on May 10 at his residence. He was 72-years-old.

The son of the late Joseph Walker and Helen Anna (Rogers) Walker, Robert was born on January 25, 1947 in Cornwall. Robert was a retired Painter with Local 155 in Poughkeepsie.

He loved bowling and coaching kids, and cruising the river with his friends. Family was his priority and he cherished time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Susan C. (Horton) Walker; his three sons: Aaron & wife Guadalupe Walker of Miami, Fla., Keith & wife Lydia Walker of Cornwall, and Scott & wife Kristen Walker of Chatham, NJ; seven grandchildren: Amelia, Ben, Aidan, Morgan, Isabella, Sebastian, and Miranda; as well as his brother Joseph Walker, Jr. of Walden, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on May 14 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
