Donald Davidson

December 18, 1939-March 5, 2019

Cornwall

Donald Davidson entered into rest on March 5. He was 79. The son of Clifford and Evelyn Davidson, he was born on Dec. 18, 1939 in New York City.

Don proudly served his country at home in the Army National Guard for six years. He went on to become an Executive at Phillip Morris for 25 years and then Sprint Corporation, where he spent the last 10 years of his career in Warrenton, Va. Don retired with his wife Eileen to Walden, NY in 2007 to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Don was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Murray Davidson and his sister Cynthia Davidson. He is survived by his brother Howard Davidson (Sally); his daughters Deborah Davidson Vogel and her husband Rick, Diane Davidson Burns and her husband Michael, and their two children Daniel and Kaitlyn, Doreen Davidson Brodmerkel and her husband Matthew and their two children Gillian and Zachary; his sons: Michael Davidson and his wife Jaime and their two children Nora and Kurt, and Matthew Davidson and his wife Sherrie, and their daughter Olivia.

Family was the most important thing to Don Davidson. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, particularly cooking for them. He loved the holidays and family gatherings. Don was active in the Catholic Church. He was a lector, as his wife was the director of CCD, at St. Edward’s Church in Florida, N.Y., where they raised their family.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 8 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson on March 9. Interment will be at the family’s convenience.

Joan Brennan

August 27, 1934 – March 9, 2019

Highland Falls

Joan A. Brennan, 84, passed away on March 9, 2019 at the Campbell Hall Nursing Home, Campbell Hall.

She was born in New York City on Aug. 27, 1934, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Melley. She graduated from Highland Falls High School in 1952, and was employed by the First National Bank of Highland Falls, Marine Midland Bank and Schade’s Restaurant. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Highland Falls.

Joan was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Frederick Brennan; her brother James P. Melley; her brother-in-law Lloyd ‘Pete’ Dunlap; and her niece Joanie Dunlap Judd.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Dunlap of Highland Falls, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Melley of Goshen.

In addition, she is survived by and will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, whom she considered her children as well – James Dunlap, Melissa Melley, Mary Beth Tschinkel (David), Mary Ann Lewis (Sam), James Melley (AnnMarie), Christopher Melley (Jennifer), Frederick Dunlap, Megan Shapiro (David); great nieces and nephews – Brandon (Ashley) Sanders, Clayton Lewis, Darran Lewis, Colin Sanders, Khrystyne Tschinkel (Kevin), MaKenzie Melley, Maddisen Melley, James Tschinkel, James Melley, Emma Melley and Amanda Melley; and great-great nieces and nephews – Mason Sanders, Jillian Lewis and Luna Lewis.

Visitation will take place Friday, March 15 from 5-8 p.m. at the William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16. Interment will follow at Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.

Barbara J. Hall

June 28, 1951- March 7, 2019

Highland Falls

Barbara J. “Susie” Hall passed away March 7, 2019 at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx. She was 67 years old.

Daughter of the late Pete Hendrickson and Jane Borger Hendrickson, she was born June 28, 1951 in Cornwall. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, at home, Richard W. Hall; her mother, Jane Hendrickson of Highland Falls; her son, Ken Hall and his wife Nichole of Highland Falls; her daughter, Kelly Hall of Highland Falls; her brother, Peter Hendrickson of Columbia, Conn.; and her two grandchildren, Hailey and Owen.

A Graveside Service was held at Peacedale Cemetery, Highland Falls on Tuesday, March 12.
