Virginia A. Donnelly

December 18, 1931- November 18, 2018

Virginia Ann (Ginny) Donnelly, 86, of Rockville, Md., passed away peacefully with family at her side Sun-day, Nov. 18, at Marian Assisted Living, Brookeville, Md.

Born Virginia Ann O’Brien of Rosedale, NY, she married James W. Donnelly of Brooklyn, on Oct. 10, 1953. They resided in East Islip, Bear Mountain, and Highland Falls,  before moving to Lakewood, NJ. She lived with her son Patrick and wife Ellen in Rockville, Md. the past two years.

Ginny loved talking about her job in Manhattan at the Empire State Building after high school. She worked as a child care aide later in life after raising her own kids. Over 58 years of marriage, she and Jim traveled the U.S. and all over the globe. They had busy social lives and were always active in their church and community.

Mother of five, Virginia is also survived by her daughter Teresa, and son, Stephen, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Donnelly was predeceased by her husband, their two oldest sons, James, Jr. and Michael, and by two granddaughters, Virginia and Amelia.

A Catholic Mass/Memorial Service was held Saturday, Dec. 1 at Marian House Chapel, Brookeville, Md. Donations may be offered in Ginny’s memory to a charity close to your heart or to one her favorites, including: Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Smile, or your local Hospice organization.

George S. Vlachos

December 24, 1945-December 30, 2018

Formerly of Cornwall

George S. Vlachos, of Montrose, Penn., a former longtime resident of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 30 at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Montrose. He was 73 years old.

The son of the late Eustratios Vlachos and Helen (Savaides) Vlachos, George was born on Dec. 24, 1945 in Brooklyn.

George earned an associate’s degree. and was retired after serving as a  sergeant in the Rockland County Department of Corrections in New Hempstead. He was an amateur photographer and the author of a book. He was a devoted husband and father, who will be missed greatly.

George was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia A. (Perera) Vlachos in 2005.  He is survived by his sons: Joseph S. Vlachos and Eustrates “Strat” Vlachos; his brothers: Paul Vlachos, John Vlachos, Thomas Vlachos and Michael Vlachos; and his sister: Helen Vlachos; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family received visitors on Jan. 4 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 5 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment followed the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.
