Florence Mary Basye

Highland Falls

Florence Mary Basye, 87, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Highland Falls on Friday, Nov. 23.

She was born Dec. 5, 1930 in Clayton, New Mexico to the late Emilia (Lopez) Dominguez Archuleta and Benito Dominguez. Flo was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Max P. Basye, whom she met during the Korean War Campaign in the Women’s Army Corps’ nursing program.  Flo was a retired secretary to the Chief of Staff at USMC at West Point.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls. A matriarch, her love and dedication to family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren is mirrored in the mutual devotion of family and friends.

She had three daughters, Debra Galu (James), Sandra Schneider (Daniel), and the late Catherine LaBrake (Jerry).  Survivors include eight grandchildren: Jacqueline Rizzuto (Ralph), JJ Galu (Chie), Joseph Galu (Jessica), Jesse Duvall (Robert), Carissa Gullickson (Marc), Mathew LaBrake (Kerry), Deborah Marshall (Tyler), Charles Schneider; and fifteen great-grandchildren: RJ, Santina, Leo, Julianne, Autumn, Marisa, Alex, AJ, Gavin, Luca, Nolan, Everly, Lincoln, Max and (baby) Bob.  She is also survived by her brothers, Alfred Dominguez, Ronnie Dominguez (Charlotte), Jimmy Archuleta (Betty), sisters, Elise Martinez and Lydia Montano (Benny).

Flo was predeceased by her brother Freddie Dominguez and her sister Stella Pacheco.
There will be no visitation. Cremation was at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls.  Interment of cremains will follow in West Point Cemetery, where Flo will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Max.

William R. Kelly

April 7, 1952 – November 26, 2018

Cornwall

William “Billy” Kelly, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 26, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 66 years old.

The son of the late William H. Kelly and Marjory Lynch Kelly, William was born on April 7, 1952 in Teaneck, NJ.

William was a carpenter for Local 19 out of Newburgh.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his 10 grandchildren. He took pride in everything he did, from gardening to building his family home. He enjoyed music and spending time with his grandchildren.

William is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Broughton Kelly; children: Jessica Kelly Sousa and Jeff Sousa, Tiffany Kelly Haydel, Emily Kelly and Randy Schmidt, Tracy Stantial Mahig and Ric Mahig, Fawn Stantial and Dave Pruitt, and Richard and Nicole Stantial; grandchildren: Ricky, Fiona, Lila, Violet, Olivia, Owen, Jaylen, Ava, Lucas William, and Liam; sisters: Lucille Lampat, Katherine Brooks, and Mary Pryor; and his goddaughter and niece: Susan Herd.

A Mass was held on Dec. 1 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson.

Friends can honor William with donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.

Daniel James Murphy Jr.

August 12, 1947-November 28, 2018

South Carolina

Daniel James Murphy Jr, 71, of Simpsonville, S.C. passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, on Nov. 28, at his son’s home under Hospice Care.

He was born on Aug, 12, 1947 in the Bronx. He was the son of the late Daniel James Murphy III and Loretta Davis Murphy. Daniel served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1970 as a ship machinist. He then worked as a senior gas trouble inspector for Orange and Rockland Utilities in Pearl River for 33 years until he retired. He was a volunteer firefighter for Storm King Fire Engine 2, in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Daniel was a loving father, and devoted friend to many. He was a dedicated fisherman on the Snow Goose fishing chartered boat in Port Chester.

He is survived by his son, Daniel James Murphy IV, daughter-in-law, Whitney Elizabeth Murphy; daughter, Kerri Murphy; his brothers: Dennis Murphy, Thomas Murphy and his wife, Lucille Murphy, and Timothy Murphy; grandson, Connor Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Dec. 2 at Mackey Funerals and Cremation at Century Drive, Greenville, SC. Donations may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
