Mario L. Vanzetta

June 25, 1977 – October 26, 2018

Highland Falls

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce that Mario Lawrence Vanzetta, 41, of Highland Falls, unexpectedly entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 26. He was born in Cold Spring on June 25, 1977 and is the late son of Joseph Vanzetta Jr. and his wife Alena.

Mario is survived by his three precious children: Emma, Mario Jr., and Dominick, whom he shared with their loving mother Stephanie (Helbig) Vanzetta. Survivors include his siblings: Joseph (Trisha) Vanzetta, Nicholas Vanzetta, John (Talena) Vanzetta, Adrienne (Jared) Howell, Amanda (Robert) Macedo, Brandon (Joanne) Calore, Brian (Veronica) Calore, and Lindsey Calore, as well as grandparents: Carmela Vanzetta, and Muriel and Giles Purvis.  Mario will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

He graduated James I. O’Neill High School and St. Thomas Aquinas College with a degree in criminal justice.  Mario followed in his grandfather’s footsteps to begin his professional career employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He continued his service for the government as a security guard at the U.S. Mint at West Point before beginning his employment with the Federal Air Marshal Service.

Mario was a devoted family man who enjoyed playing and watching sports, hiking, running in the Highland Falls bed races, coaching his children’s sports teams, and spending time with family in his beloved hometown.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Nov. 6 at Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls.  Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.

Stephanie Vanzetta

September 20, 1977 – October 26, 2018

Highland Falls

Stephanie Vanzetta died unexpectedly at home, Friday, Oct. 26 in High-land Falls.  She was 41 years old.

Daughter of Carol A. Tomajko Helbig and the late Michael Helbig, Sr., she was born Sept. 20, 1977 in Suffern.  Stephanie was married to the late Mario L. Vanzetta.

Stephanie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church of Highland Falls, a Licensed Cosmetologist in Highland Falls, but most importantly, she was a loving mother to her three beautiful children, Emma Nicole Vanzetta, Mario “Rio” Lawrence Vanzetta, and Dominick Joseph Vanzetta of Highland Falls.

Stephanie also leaves behind her mother Carol Helbig of Highland Falls; her sister Valerie Tucci and her husband Anthony of New Windsor; her brother Michael Helbig, Jr. and his husband Ivan Taylor of Miami, Fla.; and her nephew Anthony Tucci, Jr.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls.  Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
