Joyce A. Fortino

July 24, 1933-October 6, 2018

Fort Montgomery

Joyce A. Fortino passed away Saturday, Oct. 6 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.  She was 85 years old.

Daughter of the late Harry A. and Miriam D. Greene Newell, she was born July 24, 1933 in Cornwall.

Joyce worked more than 38 years for federal Civil Service.  She began her career in the Army football office, moved to California in 1986 where she was the contracting officer on the stealth bomber.  She returned to Army sports in 2000 from where she retired in 2013.

Survivors include her three sons: Mark Fortino of Fort Montgomery, Dana Fortino and his wife Susan of Highland Falls,  and Scot Fortino of Covina, Calif.; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Amber, Andrew, Alyssa, Ariana, Erika and Robert; and her great-grandchildren: Adrian, Isabella, Jovanni, Noah and Eduardo.

Joyce was predeceased by her son Paul A. Fortino, her brother Bruce Newell, and her former husband Paul J. Fortino.

Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.  There will be no public funeral services.

Rudolph Olivero

July 19, 1945-October 11, 2018

formerly of Highland Falls

Rudolph (R.J. “Jim”) Olivero died unexpectedly on Thur-sday, Oct. 11.  He was 73.

He was born on July 19, 1945, at West Point in Highland Falls, the son of John and Beatrice (Herrick) Olivero. Jim graduated from Highland Falls High School, continued his education at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., Lea College in Albert Lea, Minn. and then graduated with a business degree from Mankato State University.

He married Pamela Berges on Nov. 16, 1968 and they were blessed to have just short of 50 years together.

He began work at Streater Inc., worked for more than 30 years at REM/Woodvale, and after retirement he purely enjoyed his years driving school bus.

A great community advocate, Jim served as a Freeborn county commissioner; was a Guardian ad litem for many; served on the Solid Waste Management Board; and volunteered with ARC, YMCA, Salvation Army, and the Jaycee’s.

He was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church serving as Sunday School teacher,  confirmation leader, and usher.

Jim is survived by his wife Pamela of Albert Lea; children Chantelle Laite (Sally) of Albert Lea, Sharisse Vargas (Federico) of Northfield, Minn., Matthew Olivero (Jenna) of Alexandria, Minn., Marianne Resendiz (Noe) of Northfield, Minn.; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Shirleyann Rossi (Achilles) of New Windsor, Rosalie Minetos of Clarksville, Tenn., and Debra Olivero (Gloria) of Middletown, brother-in-law Lester Prinsen of Preston, Minn., and nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents John and Beatrice Olivero, brother John Olivero Jr., brother-in-law Peter Minetos, father and mother-in-law Paul and Charlene Berges, and sister-in-law Kay Prinsen.

Memorial services were held on Oct. 15 at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, with interment in Graceland Cemetery. The Reverend John Holt officiated.

Angelo J. Tosolini

July 24, 1936-October 15, 2018

Highland Falls

Angelo J. Tosolini passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh.  He was 82.

Son of the late Nilo and Lena Palermo Tosolini, he was born July 24, 1936 in Cornwall. Angelo was a retired plumbing and heating supervisor with the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He was a member of the Mid-Hudson Bowling Association Hall of Fame for Rockland and Orange Counties, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include his wife, E. Jeanette Tosolini, at home; daughter Linda Tosolini Wetzel of Highland Falls; son Mark Tosolini of Cortlandt Manor; stepsons Guy Anderson of Central Valley, David Schuyler of Washingtonville and Steven Schuyler of New Windsor; stepdaughters Debbie Gulino of Coconut Creek, Fla., Stacy Brunetti of Hendersonville, N.C., and Eileen Eason-Hallett of Pine Bush; brother Neil Tosolini of Dunnellon, Fla.; sister AnnMarie Ruscelli of Fort Montgomery; grandchildren Chris, Diann, Matthew, Brie, and ten step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren Parker and Isabella and four step-great-grandchildren.

Angelo was predeceased by his first wife, Diann Brandreth Tosolini on December 16, 1969, and his son Matthew Tosolini.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 22 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls.  Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.  A future Graveside Service with Interment of Cremains will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
