Rachel Hughes Accilli

Cornwall-on-Hudson

Rachel Hughes Accilli of Cornwall entered into rest on Sept. 19.  She was 46.

The daughter of the late William and Evelyn Kaiser Hughes, she was born on Oct. 21, 1971 in Natchez, Miss.

Rachel graduated from Cathedral High School in Natchez in 1989, and from Mississippi University for Women (MUW) in 1993. She was a proud member of the Troubadour Social Club and the Jester Social Club at MUW. She was a former employee of the Town of Cornwall Recreation Dept., and a parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.

Rachel was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and she will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Stephen; daughter Hannah; sister Sarah Hamilton and husband Noah; brother William and wife Kristin; sisters-in-law Terry Barnes and husband Gary, Kim Kaiser, and Linda Carpino and husband Joe; plus several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother-in-law Sheldon Kaiser.

Visitation was held on, Sept. 23 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Sept. 24 at St. Thomas in  Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery.

The family requests that donations in Rachel’s memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

Thomas Frank Gamble

Thomas “Tom” Gamble, most recently of the NYS Veterans Home at Montrose, passed away on Sept. 21.  He was 78.

The son of Betty and Gordon Gamble, he was born in Buffalo. Tom, the oldest of three boys, lived much of his life on Buffalo’s West Side. His family spent many summers in Grimsby Beach, Ontario, which he always remembered fondly.  Tom also lived in the Hudson Valley for nearly 20 years and was particularly fond of its fall foliage.

Tom earned a B.S. in History from Cornell University, where he played hockey and belonged to the Sigma Phi fraternity. He earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  He honorably and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Korea, Fort Hamilton, and Fort Bragg.

Family was the centerpiece of Tom’s life. He was a devoted and proud husband, father, “Lolo,” brother, and uncle. He was known for his mischievous grin, warm hugs, sharp wit, contagious laughter, cheeky sense of humor, knack for conversation, and love of reading, debate, cars, the Buffalo Bills and the Yankees. There will be no replacement for this “tough little guy.”

Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Norma; his four children: Chrissy and her husband Pete Casciato, Tracey and her husband Jason Dubeshter, Mark Stingle and his wife Tina, and Carl Ray Stingle and his wife Nanci; seven grandchildren: Jessica, David, and Samantha Stingle, Catherine and Juliana Stingle, and Max and Lucy Dubeshter; his dear brother: Robert Gamble; and, many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sept. 25 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service followed visitation.

Susan F. Kirkpatrick

July 5, 1952-September 8, 2018

formerly of Cornwall

Susan F. Kirkpatrick of Melbourne, Fla. entered into eternal rest on Sept. 8 at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, Fla.  A resident of Consulate Skilled Nursing Facility in Melbourne, she was 66.

Susan was the daughter of the late Robert J. Kirkpatrick and Elin F. Schumacher.  She also had a wonderful and caring stepfather, the late Gene I. Schumacher.

Born in Cornwall, she attended St. Thomas Catholic School and Church.  After she graduated from high school, she worked at Hotel Thayer, U.S. Military Academy West Point.  She also worked for many years as a home health aide in Orange County.

Susan is survived by her sisters: Lynne Lewis and husband, Robert of Palm Bay, Fla. and Robin Ciccone of Palm Bay; brothers-in-law: Dennis Seaman of Milford, Penn. and Douglas Vogt of New Milford, Conn.; three nieces, one nephew and five great nephews.

Susan lost her best friend and companion Matty Carlino to cancer.  She always missed him and mentioned him fondly.

She acquired two very good friends through Matty, June Mercogliano and the late Patti Childs who were sisters.  They kept in close contact with Susan  and became her best friends and confidants.

Susan loved fashion and was dedicated to the care of her patients over the years as a home health aide.  She was always interested in what her nephews and nieces were doing and how they were. She loved looking at their pictures. Her family will miss her and will never forget her.

Memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson. A chapel service will follow visitation at 4 p.m.  Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.

Susanne D. Laurion

December 5, 1927-August 13, 2018

Cornwall

Susanne D. Laurion entered into eternal rest on August 13 at her home in Cornwall.

She was 90 years old. Born Susanne Indzonka in Newburgh on Dec.5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Louis Indzonka and Katherine (McCloskey) Indzonka. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1945. She then graduated from Ladycliff College, and later received a master’s degree at SUNY New Paltz College of Education. She married Tristan Laurion in 1962.

Susanne worked for many years as a teacher at Balmville Elementary School. She was a member of the Powelton Club, Storm King Golf Club and the Eastern Orange County Ski Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dr. Francis W. Indzonka, and her sister-in-law, Svea L. Indzonka.

Susanne is survived by her nephews: Dr. Peter F. Indzonka and his wife, Christine, and their son, Kevin, of Albany, Dr. Mark F. Indzonka and his wife, Laura, and their children: Jack, Joseph, Larissa, Benjamin and Linnea of Stroudsburg, Penn.; and Erik F. Indzonka, Esq., and his wife, Michele, and their sons, Douglas and Andrew of New Windsor.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at St. Joseph’s Church, 4 St. Joseph’s Place, New Windsor. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, on Cemetery Road in Mountainville.

Tristan A. Laurion

November 30, 1932-August 13, 2018

Cornwall

Tristan A. Laurion entered into eternal rest on Aug. 13 at his home in Cornwall. He was 85 years old. Son of the late Rodolphe and Gertrude (Voisard) Laurion, Tristan was born on Nov. 30, 1932, in Lowell, Mass.

He was a graduate of Dracut High School and Lowell Technological Institute. He received a master’s degree at the University of New Hampshire. Tristan served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and was stationed for two years at Otis Air Force Base. Tristan married Susanne Indzonka in 1962. He worked for many years at Texaco Research Center in Beacon, attaining the position of senior project chemist. He was a member of the Powelton Club and the Eastern Orange County Ski Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first cousins, Dolores M. Voisard, Raymond R. Dube, Sr., and Joseph R. Dube, Jr.

Tristan is survived by his nephews: Dr. Peter F. Indzonka of Albany, Dr. Mark F. Indzonka of Stroudsburg, Penn., and Erik F. Indzonka, Esq., of New Windsor; his first cousins: Richard N. Dube of Dracut, Mass. and Raymond L. Voisard of Hopland, Calif.; and his first cousins once removed: Richard N. Dube II of Pittsburg, N.H.; Daniel Dube, Susan Dube Coffman and Katie Shirley Mathews of Alexandria, La.; Steven Dube, Jason Shirley and Allyson Shirley Warren of Boyce, La.; Raymond R. Catherine Morrissey

Highland Falls

Catherine “Kitty” Morrissey (also Grandma Kitty and GG) passed away with her loving family beside her on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 89 years old.

She is the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Duffy and the widow of the love of her life, Jack Morrissey.

Kitty was a retired crossing guard with the NYPD, one of the joys of her life was working with the children of St. Theresa’s parish, where she was also a part of the Rosary Society and highly involved with the church.  She also enjoyed being a member of the Highland Falls Senior Center.

Family and friends were very important to Kitty and she loved them all and was loved by so many.

Survivors include her loving daughters and husbands – Maureen and Tom Mrazek of Highland Falls, Peggy and Bob Maresh of Hudson, Fla., and Barbara and John Mascetti of Astoria; brother Francis Duffy and his wife Bridget of Pearl River; sister Dorothy McGivern of Highland Falls; six grandchildren – Carrie, Thomas, Taylor, Jenna, John and Jaime; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls.  Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.

Dominick A. Musco

September 24, 1926-September 4, 2018

formerly of Cornwall

Dominick  A. Musco of Naples, Fla., formerly of Cornwall, entered into rest on Sept. 4. He was 91.

The son of the late Enrico and Mary Spignardo Musco, he was born on Sept. 24, 1926 in Newburgh.

Dominick was a World War II Army paratrooper in Japan. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 71 years, Evelyn King Musco; daughters: Pamela Burns and husband Thomas, and Evelyn Halvorsen and husband Wayne; grandson Bryan Halvorsen and wife Kelly; great granddaughters Emma and Ava Halvorsen; brother Dante Musco; plus several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Laura Anne (Lori) Musco, and brothers Joseph Musco and Enrico Musco, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A private burial will follow.

Dominick will be at rest with his loving daughter Lori.

Irma Perales

December 24, 1926-September 18, 2018

Cornwall-on-Hudson

Irma Perales, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 18 at her home. She was 91 years old.

The daughter of the late Orthello and Juana Ayal, she was born on Dec. 24, 1926 in Puerto Rico.

Irma was retired after working as a nurse at Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan, where she enjoyed caring for all of her patients.

Irma was predeceased by her loving husband Luis Perales in 2011.  She is survived by her daughter: Ellie DelGaudio of Cornwall-on-Hudson; her grandchildren: Andrew J. DelGaudio, Jessica M. DelGaudio and Christopher Veni; her great grandchildren: Karter and Louie; and her brother: Jerry.  In addition to her husband, Irma was predeceased by her son Luis Perales.

The family received visitors on Sept. 23 at Quigley-Sullivan, Inc. Funeral Home, in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 24 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church,  in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was followed by interment at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Alton Ward

May 21, 1960 – August 28, 2018

formerly of Highland Falls

Alton ‘Ron’ Ward, age 58, of New Martinsville, W.V., formerly of New York, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 28  at Wheeling Hospital, Wheel-ing, WV.

He was born May 21, 1960 in Niagara Falls, the son of Margie (Wade) Ward and the late Alton Ward. He was a Teamster truck driver and a member of the First Methodist Church of Highland Falls.

Surviving is his mother; niece Cherri Hair of North Carolina; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Ward, and half-sister, Gloria Combs.

Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, New Martinsville. Services will be held at a later date in New York, on the Hudson River.
