Guido J. Bologna

Cornwall

Guido J. Bologna, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Sept. 6 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.   He was 86.

The son of the late Joseph Bologna and Josephine (Torello) Bologna, Guido was born on Oct. 31, 1931 in Manhattan in New York City.

Guido earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from N.Y.U. in 1965.  He retired from JSG Technical Services, Inc. in Goshen after previously working for Abex Corporation in Mahwah, N.J. and the Army Corps of Engineers. He was the developer of Mine Hill Estates in Cornwall.

He was a member of the St. Thomas of Canterbury parish for 60 years.

“Guido was a quiet, gentle soul with a quick wit who always made us laugh,” his family said. “He was a kind and caring man who loved his family more than words can describe. For over 40 years he enjoyed his view from the mountain. He was loved by his family and will be missed greatly.”

Guido is survived by his loving wife, Mary A. (Krieger) Bologna of Cornwall; his daughter: Arleen C. Bologna of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his sons: Guido Bologna (Heather) of Las Vegas and Joseph Bologna of Phoenix; his grandchildren: Cody of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Guido and Gabriella of Las Vegas.

Visitation was held on Sept. 10 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 11 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was followed by interment at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Paul M. Hackett

September 1, 1954- September 1, 2018

Fort Montgomery

Paul Michael Hackett, of Fort Montgomery, a retired NYC Department of Corrections captain, passed away on the morning of his 64th birthday, Sept. 1.

Paul enjoyed performing stand-up comedy, fishing with friends, dabbling in real estate and standing in as the family handy man.

He is survived by his loving wife Lillian; two children Elizabeth and Alexander; and granddaughters Annabella and Julianna.

A memorial service was held on Saturday Sept. 8 at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh, for family and friends.

James Scully

December 12, 1929-September 9, 2018

formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson

Jim Scully, a former resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 9 at Wingate at Beacon.  He was 88 years old.

The son of the late Austin Scully and Beatrice (Bussom) Scully, James was born on Dec. 12, 1929 in Binghamton, NY.  He was a retired pressman for Commercial Offset Printing in New Windsor.

James honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S.  Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Storm King Golf Club.    He was a diehard Yankee, NY Giant and NY Rangers fan.  He was married to the love of his life for almost 50 years.  Jim was a fan of practical jokes and always enjoyed being the life of the party.  He will be missed greatly.

James was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret “Peg” Scully in 2004.  He is survived by his son: Kevin Scully and his wife Loriene; his daughters: Linda Scully, Joanne Quicksell and her husband James, Trish McGinn and her husband James; his son-in-law Chris Foster; his grandchildren: Kai, Teo and Shae Honda Scully, James Quicksell, Sean, Brendan and Callie McGinn and Christopher Foster; and his brother Robert Scully.  James was also predeceased by his daughter Mary Foster, his infant son James and his brother Eugene Scully.

Visitation was due to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson.  Cremation will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
