Darlene Nytko-Doepner

February 1, 1956 – July 25, 2018

Highland Falls

Darlene A. Nytko-Doepner passed away on Wednesday, July 25 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 62.

Daughter of  Eliza-beth Nelson Nytko and the late Frederick Nytko, she was born in Spring Valley, on February 1, 1956.  Darlene was a researcher for Boehringer Ingelheim in Danbury, Conn. She was a graduate of James I. O’Neill High School, Class of 1974; a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls; a member of Highland Falls Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary; and a member of Army Athletic Association ticket sales.

She is survived by her sons, Kyle D. Doepner of Highland Falls, Colin J. Doepner of Highland Falls and Stephan H. Doepner of Fernley, Nev.; her mother Elizabeth Nytko of Garrison; her husband, Merlin D. Doepner of Fernley, Nev.; her brother Frederick Nytko, II of Highland Falls; and her sister, Debra A. Hoisington of Jacksonville, Fla.

A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.

Joanne Kapuscinski McCormick

April 19, 1960-July 27, 2018

formerly of Cornwall

Joanne Kapuscinski McCormick of Newburgh passed away on Friday, July 27 surrounded by her family.

She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Betty Kapuscinski, born on April 19, 1960 in Brooklyn.

Joanne married Robert McCormick on June 25, 1983 and together they built a beautiful life in Cornwall with their children actively participating in all of their activities.   Joanne enjoyed being with friends and family, especially her beloved animals, dog Oliver and cat Olive. She enjoyed yearly beach vacations and camping with family and friends throughout her lifetime.

Her greatest joys in life were her three grandchildren, Calli, Brady and Adalyn Balcombe.  She is survived by her children, Jaclyn (Evan) Balcombe, Bobby McCormick, grandchildren: Calli, Brady and Adalyn Balcombe, ex-husband Bob McCormick and partner Kevin Shaw.

Visitation was on Thursday August 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Avenue (Rte 94) New Windsor, NY, with a service officiated by Rev. Patricia Calahan at 6:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornwall Backpacks For Food.

Mary J. Nikola

June 13, 1929 – July 30, 2018

Highland Falls

Mary J. Nikola passed away Monday, July 30 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh.  She was 89 years old.

Daughter of the late Robert F. and Bertha M. Stewart Nikola, she was born June 13, 1929 in Highland Falls.  Mary was a retired bookkeeper with Mountain Garage of Highland Falls.

Survivors include her loving niece Ann Marie Walminski of Wallkill, and many cousins.

Mary was predeceased by her brother Robert L. Nikola and her sister Bertha Stanwyck.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements by William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 845-446-2868.
