Donald S. Drew

July 17, 1930 – April 1, 2018

formerly of Highland Falls

Donald Sibley Drew, 87, formerly of Highland Falls, passed in his sleep Easter morning, April 1 in Greenville, S.C.

The son of Charles and Dorothy Drew, he was born at home on West St. in Highland Falls on July 17, 1930. He graduated from Highland Falls High School, and worked at both the West Point Print Shop (retiring after 30 years) and The News of the Highlands. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Innocents.

He is survived by his children Kathy Drew, Jon Drew, Lydia (Drew) Blackiston and Martha Drew.  He was blessed with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time.

Doris Marie Hennessey

May 6, 1927-March 27, 2018

Cornwall-on-Hudson

Doris Marie Hennessey of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into rest on March 27 at Sapphire Nursing at Meadow Hill.  She was 90.

The daughter of the late Augustine T. and Hazel Fredrickson Hennessey, she was born on May 6, 1927 in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Doris was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Avenue A. Survivors include her many cousins.  She was predeceased by her twin sister Sophia Jane Hennessey.

Visitation was held on April 4 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 5 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery.

James W. MacMorran

March 3, 1922-March 4, 2018

Formerly of Cornwall

James W. MacMorran, born March 3, 1922 in Cornwall, NY entered into rest on March 4 of natural causes at the age of 96 in Davenport, Fla.

James was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Anna F. MacMorran, who entered into rest on April 12, 2016 at the age of 93.  They were together for 80 years.  James was also predeceased by their great granddaughter: Brianna Skriver.

James was a graduate of Cornwall High School.  He was a retired machinist at Green Fanin Beacon. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany.

James was a member of the Canterbury Fire District, a past captain and life member of Highland Engine Company #1 and a life member of Black Rock Fish & Game Club.  Both James and Anna were members of the Cornwall United Methodist Church and the Haines City United Methodist Church in Florida.

Survivors include sons:  David and spouse Lou Ann, Ronald and partner Diane; daughters: Susan and spouse Mike, Patricia and spouse Jeff; grandchildren: Tammy, Jason, Keith, James, Rebecca and Kimberly; as well as four great grandchildren.

Visitation and services will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 6 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Interment of cremains with Military Honors for James and Anna will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7 at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, in Goshen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mr. MacMorran’s great granddaughter, Brianna Skriver, to www.curebatten.org/donate.

Frederick “Rick” Marasco

September 16, 1954 – March 21, 2018

Cornwall

Frederick “Rick” Marasco passed away on March 21, at the age of 63.

Born in White Plains, Fred received a BA from Manhattanville College followed by an MBA and JD from Pace University.  Later he received a master’s degree from the Yale Divinity School.   True to his passion, he became a hospital chaplain counseling families in their time of need.  In addition, he served in the New York National Guard at West Point and also worked in their ministry office. He took care of his aging parents, Dorothy and Anthony Marasco, for many years until they passed away.

He is survived by his five siblings:  Bernard Marasco of Rye Brook; Alexander Marasco of Naples, Fla.; Cece Drummond of White Plains; Ramona Stadler of Randolph, N.J. and Joan Marasco of Bridgewater, Mass.

A private celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a future date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
