Helen M. Murino

February 27, 1922-March 24, 2018

Cornwall

Helen M. Murino, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on March 24 at Cortlandt Healthcare in Cortlandt Manor, NY. She was 96.

The daughter of George Jeandemange and Rose (Muzio) Jeandemange, Helen was born on Feb. 27, 1922 in Brooklyn.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Francis X. Murino in 1980.

She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury parish and volunteered at the Cornwall Hospital luncheonette, where she was known as the “Brownie Lady” for her “secret ingredient” brownies.

“Helen’s family was everything to her.  She lived with her daughter Pat and her late husband Bill for the better part of 33 years.  Because of this living arrangement, her youngest daughter Diane and husband Mike were able to visit frequently, making this family complete for her.  She was able to live with and see her beloved grandchildren grow up to marry and have children of their own. Her unequivocal love of her family could only be matched by her unequivocal love of cooking.  Anyone who was lucky enough to enjoy her food would agree it was filled with love along with its amazing flavor.  She will be greatly missed.”

Helen is survived by her daughters: Patricia A. Moore of Cornwall, and Diane Cognitore and her husband Mike of Fleischmanns; her grandchildren:  Scott (Kaylena) Moore, Matt (Henny) Moore and Jenn (Brandon) Cipperly; her great grandchildren: Aidan, Ella, Mason, Jax, Liam and Jaden.  In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her son-in-law William M. Moore and her sister Rose Matarazzo.

Visitation was held on March 27 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 28 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.
