Katherine H. (“Kit”) Johnston

Katherine H. Johnston (Kit), 98, of Carlisle, Penn passed away on Feb. 15 at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community.

A long-time resident of Cornwall, Kit was a librarian at the Cornwall Public Library for many years. She and her husband, Rob (deceased), served on various committees of the Cornwall Presbyterian Church and were active members of the Storm King Golf Club. In addition to being an avid golfer, Kit enjoyed bridge, knitting, and reading.

She is survived by daughters Martha Trzepacz of Wallingford, Penn., and Sarah Marsh of New Fairfield, Conn.; sons-in-law Mathew Trzepacz and Wesley Marsh; grandchildren Robert Trzepacz and Sarah Trzepacz, Alex Marsh, Aaron Marsh, Kate (Marsh) Fonseca and Emily Marsh; and, four great grandchildren.

She will be interred with the rest of the Johnston family in New Milford, Conn.

Anne Joyce

Anne Joyce, 95, entered into rest on March 3.

The daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Rathbone, she was born February 15, 1923 in Ridgewood, N.Y. She was married to the late Vincent Joyce.

Anne was a graduate of Bishop McDonald High School and was a member of the Rosary Society, Madonna’s, and Lay Apostolates. She was a wonderful, loving, compassionate, generous and caring mom. Everyone who came in contact with her loved her and she will be terribly missed.

Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Shea of Sarasota, Fla. and Patricia Zale of Campbell Hall; grandchildren, Meghan Shea Arnett, Aimee Shea Rivett, Jamie Zale and Brandon Zale; great-grandchildren, Frankie, Harvey and Arlo Rivett, Tucker Shea Arnett, and Amelia Arnett; and nephews Bob and Charles Rathbone. In addition to her husband Vincent, she was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Rathbone and her son, Vincent Joyce.

Her family received visitors on March 6 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by burial in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N,Y.
