Jeremy Joseph Gress

November 27, 1980 – March 18, 2017

Jeremy Joseph Gress of Cornwall-on-Hudson died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 18. He was 36.

Jeremy was born Nov. 27, 1980 in Peoria, Ill., the son of Charles Gress and Janis Clinch. Jeremy is survived by his son, Ryleigh Gress, at home; his parents, Charles and Carol Gress of Dallas, Ga., mother, Janis Clinch of Austell, Ga.; his grandparents, Herbert and Ethel Gress of Peoria; his siblings, Reginald Rowe (Deborah), Rebecca Fritz (Todd), Jason Gress (Cheryl), Anthony Gress, Coral Clinch, Megan Tuttle (Frederick), and Kylie Gress; nieces and nephews, Carrie, Paris, Jonah, Jordan, Kirsten, Eden, Liam, and Brannagh; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vince and Edra Clinch. Jeremy was a loving, witty, and dedicated father, son, brother, and friend. Family meant everything to him; including his son, Ryleigh, who was the light of his life. Jeremy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, including two tours to the Middle East. He was an IT specialist throughout his military career and since leaving the military; his most recent position as an IT security specialist at IBM.

Visitation was due to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at Doulin Funeral Home, 318 N Montgomery Street, Newburgh. A funeral will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24 at Doulin Funeral Home. Burial with full Military honors will follow at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

Brendan M. Leen

December 17, 1938 – March 17, 2017

Highland Mills

Brendan M. Leen, of Highland Mills entered into eternal rest on March 17 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old.

The son of the late Jeremiah Leen and Mary Reidy Leen, he was born on Dec. 17, 1938 in County Kerry, Ireland.

He was a Specialist Technician for Verizon Telephone in Little Ferry, N.J. before retiring. His family said, “He will be missed greatly.”

In addition to his parents, Brendan was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth M. Leen.  He is survived by his sons; Daniel P. Leen (Kelly) of Harriman, John W. Leen (Barbara) of  Pleasantville; his daughter, Marie C. Conmy (Michael) of Cornwall; twelve grandchildren. Brendan was predeceased by his siblings, Donald, Dennis, Dermott, Emmon, Eileen, Anne, Josephine, Sr. Maura, and Sr. Rita.

Memorial visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Inurnment with military honors will follow the service at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

Mark A. Murphy

September 20, 1958-March 6, 2017

Formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson

Mark A. Murphy entered into eternal rest on March 6, in Flagler County, Fla .after a long illness.  He was 58.

The oldest child and only son of the late John V. and Marie Arnold Murphy, Mark was born on Sept. 20, 1958, in Newburgh.  He was raised in Cornwall-on-Hudson, graduating from St. Thomas of Canterbury School, Cornwall Central High School and Orange County Community College.

Mark loved the restaurant business and the beach and spent many happy years managing Finnegan’s Beachside Pub in Flagler Beach, Florida.  He moved back to Florida last year with plans to open his own restaurant.  In between, Mark became a licensed massage therapist and spent several years as an over-the-road truck driver seeing the American countryside.  Mark always had a smile, a joke, and a song; this world is a sadder place without him.

Mark is survived by his loving sisters:  Catherine (Kitty) Murphy and her husband Richard Stecher of Campbell Hall, and Suzanne Murphy Christoff, her husband Patrick Ierardi and son Michael Ierardi of Goshen.  Mark is also survived by his loving companion, Christina Vickers, whose devotion to Mark during his final illness was an inspiration to all who observed it.  Christina’s son, Brandon Currier, held a very special place in Mark’s heart.  Mark also leaves behind several aunts and uncles, as well as many cousins; Mark was always proud of his large extended family.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, in, Cornwall-on-Hudson, and will be followed by a prayer service and inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.

A Funeral Mass was previously held on March 17th, at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach, Fla.; Reverend Alberto G. Esposito officiating.
