Nicholas Ryan Dederick

November 14, 1998-August 28, 2016

Nicholas Ryan Dederick, 17, a resident of Summerville S.C. and the Hudson Valley died on Aug. 28. A memorial service will be held for him at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Hudson Valley Christian Church, 100 Grand Street in Newburgh.

Born in Poughkeepsie on Nov. 14, 1998, Nicholas was the son of Michael Dederick (now a local resident) and Joanne Virgilio. He was a senior at Fort Dorchester High School and a varsity football player, number 85.

Nicholas loved the Hudson Valley, and enjoyed hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. He volunteered at Edgwick Farms and was part of the Painter’s Restaurant family. He is survived by his father Michael (Lisa DiCarlo), mother Joanne, son Hudson Dederick, girlfriend Morgan Dudley, brother Richard Minckler, sister Kayla Minckler, grandparents Paul and Bonnie Sherman, and many friends.

“In loving memory of a beautiful son, father, brother and great friend to all,” a family member said. “Your smile lit up the universe, your laughter made us all smile, your humor brought joy to so many. Although young, your kindness, wise words and interest in others touched many lives. You will always be in our hearts. We are so grateful to have known you, and for all the wonderful gifts you brought to our lives just by being you.

“Words alone cannot even begin to express just how much you are loved and missed. Though you’ve passed before us you’re always in our hearts, and though we are not together we’ll never be apart. Put your arms around him Lord and shower him with love and care. For You have in Your possession a son beyond compare. Be free and at peace my son and remember I always believed in you.”
