There’s baseball in town tomorrow

Pine Bush erased a 7-5 lead with a pair of home runs in the top half of the final inning. The power surge gave the visiting Bushmen an 8-7 lead, which they maintained in the bottom half of the inning.

As a result, the teams will be playing tomorrow, with the winner claiming the district banner. Game time is 5:30.

Cornwall moved ahead in the first inning, gave up the lead in the fifth, and then quickly gained it back on three walks plus hits by Joe Harvey, Connor Zatlukal and Jo Jo Coppola.

The Dragons played near perfect defense. Patrick Purcell started a double play after snaring a sinking line drive in left field. Gregg Shaw turned a liner into an inning-ending out, and Coppola (who pitched in relief) got a force at the plate on a ball that bounced high over the mound.

A hit to right field put runners on the corners for the Bushmen in the third inning, but the threat ended with a ground ball to third base.
