Theodore R. Dobias
January 30, 1926-June 6, 2016
Theodore R. Dobias, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on June 6 at home. He was 90.
The son of the late Joseph and Veronica Dobias, Ted was born on Jan. 30, 1926 in Klatova, Nova Ves , Czechoslovakia.
Ted entered NYMA in 1942. As soon as he turned 17, however, he joined the United States Army and fought in Italy with the 10th. Mountain Division. At war’s end, Ted or “Doby” as his classmates called him, returned to NYMA for his final two years.
A star athlete and fierce competitor, Doby lettered in many sports and was the team captain in football. As a senior, he was a Cadet Captain and President of his class.
Upon graduation, Ted was asked by Col. Pattillo to stay on as a Staff Officer, with the honorary rank of Major. Thus began his uninterrupted 50 years of service.
Ted was on the Town Zoning Board of Appeals; he was a crossing guard in Cornwall-on-Hudson and a devoted member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley H. Dobias, at home; his son, Ted M. Dobias and wife Lorri of Wallkill; his daughter, Linda A. Dombroski and husband, Gregory of the Town of Newburgh; and two grandchildren, Kara and Bryan.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 10 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.

Wesley F. Orr
February 27, 1933-May 31, 2016
Wesley F. Orr, of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on May 31 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 83 years old.
The son of the late Elmer Orr and Dorothy A. Johnston Orr, Wesley was born on Feb. 27, 1933 in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
He was a retired Fleet Lease Manager for Newburgh Auto Auction in Newburgh. He also worked for many years as an auto appraiser for Hudson Valley Auto Appraisers and, at one time, he owned his own business.
Wesley honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
He was a lifetime member of Storm King Golf Club in Cornwall. He was fond of people and had many friends in the Hudson Valley. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very helpful to his sons his entire life and very proud of his two granddaughters. He will be dearly missed by his entire family and by his great number of friends.
Wesley was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Joan M. Wallace Orr in 2013. He is survived by his sons, David A. Orr and his wife Dawn of Cornwall-on Hudson and Alan J. Orr and his wife Cheryl of Gardiner, N.Y. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kimberly and Christie; and his sister, Dolores Calamari of Cornwall-on-Hudson.
His family received visitors. on June 3 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was held on June 4 at the funeral home, with Rev. Patricia Calahan of the Cornwall Presbyterian Church officiating. The service was followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
James Walsh
July 9, 1926-May 31, 2016
James Walsh, age 89 of Cornwall, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on May 31. He was buried on June 6 with full military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Trenton, N.J.
The son of the late Martin Walsh and Gertrude McCroden Walsh, James was born on July 9, 1926 in Trenton.
He served in the US Navy, Army Air Corps, and retired as a master sergeant of the US Air Force. He proudly and honorably served his country for 20 years. As a World War ll and Korean veteran, James had the privilege of taking the Hudson Valley Honor Flight to Washington D.C in October 2015.
To know him was to love him. Affectionately known as Grandpa Walsh to many, James enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many events including Little League baseball, soccer, basketball games, concerts, plays, gymnastic competitions, and school functions.
James was also an amazing father to his four children. He always had a twinkle in his blue eyes and a joke or song to share. He truly was a one of a kind, generous, and wonderful person who will be missed by many. James will continue to live on in the hearts of all who cherished and adored him. His sense of adventure and humor was contagious. His life was a blessing to all.
James is survived by his loving wife, Jessie Walsh at home; his sons, Sean Walsh and wife Susan and their children, Colin, Emma and Aaron; Timothy Walsh and wife Sally and their children, Chelsea, Brooke and Tyler; his daughters, Stacy Segali and husband Eddie and their children, Ryan, Matthew and Kevin, and Elizabeth Walsh.
