American Legion Post retires flags

Prior to its June 8 meeting, American Legion Post 353 retired American flags that were no longer serviceable.

Most of the flags had been left in the red, white and blue mailbox on the steps of Town Hall. A few  flags (including one with 48 stars) were spared because they were still in good condition.

The annual retirement ceremony is normally held on or before Flag Day, which is June 14.
