Brenden O’Flaherty, of Cornwall, has been named the Scholar Athlete of the year for Class A football teams in New York State. He learned of his award in time to share the news at a Jan. 25 school board meeting. The timing was appropriate as the school board was recognizing the district’s outstanding athletes,
Although thousands of players are eligible for the honor, for the last two years the award has gone to a 12th-grader from Cornwall. Last year Quinn Zsido was the recipient. He is now a freshman at Carnegie-Mellon, and a member of the football team.
