Judge puts hold on annexation

On Nov. 5, Supreme Court Justice Francesca Connolly granted a motion to stop Kiryas Joel’s annexation of land in the Town of Monroe until a decision is reached in the lawsuit challenging the annexation.

A coalition of municipalities filed the motion to avoid having to reverse changes that might occur if the annexation took place, and the court later ruled that it was illegal.

Town of Cornwall Supervisor Randy Clark provided the information in a Friday afternoon press release.

NOTE: The Town Board will hold a special meeting at 6:30 on Monday night to interview candidates for a part-time building inspector’s job. The regularly scheduled meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
