Not quite. The birds, which inhabit Rings Pond, were just taking a break from swimming and were not reacting to the increase in algae. Tim McCarty, Cornwall buildings and grounds superintendent, said a dry summer has resulted in an increase of algae in ponds region-wide. His department treats the pond with an algaecide every two weeks. McCarty said the algae will dissipate once there’s more rain and wind.
