Rocco Orsini

July 6, 1917-July 11, 2015

Rocco Orsini, of Cornwall, a 75-year resident of the area, died on Saturday, July 11. He was 98.

Son of the late Enrico and Carmela Orsini, he was born July 6, 1917 in Italy.

Rocco was a retiree of West Point Military Academy, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 5 years during World War II, receiving the rank of sergeant. Rocco was an avid bowler; he enjoyed spending time with his family, music, and working.

Survivors include his loving wife at home Fermina (Colandrea) Orsini, whom he married on November 20, 1964; his step children: John Horos of Newburgh and Mary Williamson of Mansfield Mass.; his brother: Mario Orsini of Newburgh; grandchildren: Alfred Flower of Newburgh, Stephen Williamson of Massachusetts, and Jean Marie Denizard of Weymouth, Mass.; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Ricki Orsini of Florida, Linda Bivona of Orange Lake, and Carla Meigel of Monticello, and Francine Orsini of the Town of Newburgh. Rocco was predeceased by his first wife, Anne Witkowski, and his sister Dina DiDonato.

The family received visitors on July 15, at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial was due to be celebrated on Thursday, July 16 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was due to be followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Edward M. Blasko

December 5, 1957-July 11, 2015

Edward M. Blasko of Cornwall, entered into rest on Saturday, July 11.  He was 57.

The son of the late Edward and Helen Benjamin Blasko, he was born on Dec. 5, 1957 in Newburgh.

Edward was a sous chef at the West Point Club.  He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend and will be deeply missed.
He was an avid gardener, who loved growing vegetables.

Survivors include his wife Joyce, at home; two sons: Michael, and Christopher and his wife Jenna; four sisters: Mary Ann Kilpatrick, Ethel Swain, Helen McCallops and Anna Wilkins; plus several nieces and nephews.

His family was due to receive visitors on Thursday, July 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
