Louise Beccarelli Costella

Louise Costella , of Mountainville, entered into eternal rest on May 14, at Kaplan Family Hospice, Newburgh. She was 85-years-old.
The daughter of Joseph Beccarelli and Maria DelGrosso Beccarelli, she was born on March 5, 1930 in Astoria. She was married to the late Raymond Costella.
Costella earned her high school degree from Bryant High School in Woodside, Class 1948. She was a retired secretary in personnel for Star Expansion Industries in Mountainville. She was employed by the Book of the Month Club in her earlier days in New York City. She was an election inspector in Mountainville and an active member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Costella is survived by her daughter Joan Sullivan of Mountainville, her son Peter Costella of Hartford, Conn.; grandchildren: Justin Sullivan and his wife Sandra of Northport, Fla., Michael Sullivan of Brooklyn, Angela Kessler of Cornwall–on-Hudson; great granddaughter Sadie Rayne Kessler. Also cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides her husband , she was predeceased by her son-in-law Thomas E. Sullivan and a sister Lena Dellafioria.
Arrangements were by Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment was at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.

Richard (Dick) DeKay
January 1, 1933-May 15, 2015
Richard (Dick) DeKay, 82, the son of the late Clarence Peter DeKay and Elizabeth Durkee Vail, was born on Jan. 1, 1933, in Florida, N.Y. and was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy Class of 1950.
DeKay was a born again Christian and long time member of the Mid-Hudson Camp of the Gideons International.
He was in private practice for over 50 years as a licensed land surveyor throughout Orange County.
After high school, DeKay volunteered in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War with the corpsman.
He was a charter member of the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a life member of the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
DeKay was a lifetime member of the American Legion-Judson P. Galloway Post 152 Newburgh, a charter member of the Cornwall Historical Society, a long time member of the Albany Colony of the Society of Mayflower Descendants; a lifetime member of the Moffatt Clan Society, and a life member of the Holland Society of New York. He was also a retired Elder of the Goodwill Evangelical Presbyterian Church (ordained April, 1967).
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 53 years, Nathalie Jean Brewster. They had three children; Yvonne Elizabeth and her husband Douglas K. Fletcher, Richard Brewster DeKay and Russell Craig DeKay (who died on April 6th, 1974) and two grandchildren Lauren and James Fletcher. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Vail DeKay and survived his brother Kenneth DeKay.

Frank T. Thornton, Sr.
August 14, 1932-May 16, 2015
Frank T. Thornton, Sr., a 50-year resident of the area, passed away Saturday, May 16, at N.Y. State Veterans’ Home, Montrose. He was 82-years-old.
Son of the late Fred W. and Honora Small Thornton, he was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Englewood, N.J. Thornton was a retired sergeant with New York State Police Troop F in Middletown. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War, a former member of Highland Mills Fire Company, and a former member of Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education. Thornton was the widower of Irene C. Richter Thornton.
Survivors include his children: Frank T. Thornton, Jr. of Tisbury, MA, Catherine DeBerto of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Joseph T. Thornton of Aledo, TX, Virginia Thornton of Highland Mills, and Thomas J. Thornton of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his brother Fred Thornton of Ogdensburg, N.J.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Thornton.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Interment was at Cemetery of The Highlands, Highland Mills.
