Chief issues rabid animals warning

After a rabid raccoon and woodchuck were  found in Mountainville, Police Chief Todd Hazard warned residents not to touch wild animals whether they are alive or dead.

Rabies is a fatal disease that can be transmitted by animals that are infected with the rabies virus. If you were bitten or scratched by an animal, call the Orange County Department of Health at 291-2332. If you see a wild animal acting strangely, please call the Town of Cornwall Police Department at 845 534-8100
