In the May 16 Local, we reported that the vote was 4-1 on a resolution concerning the property next to the Town Highway Garage. The actual vote was 3-2; Peter Russell, Kerry McGuinness and Randy Clark supported the measure; Helen Bunt and Betty Longinott voted against it.
The resolution authorized a title search and environmental assessment of the property. If the results are satisfactory, the supervisor will sign a contract to purchase the land from the Hand family.
The public will have a chance to say “yes” or “no” to the transaction in a mandatory referendum that will probably be held in November.
