Joseph Dominick Roscino
March 19, 1928-March 27, 2014
Joseph Dominick Roscino, Sr., of Cornwall, entered into rest on March 27 at Elant Fishkill. He was 86.
The son of the late Dominick and Loretta (DiLorenzo) Roscino, Sr., Joseph was born on March 19, 1928 in Mola di Bari, Italy. After Loretta’s death in 1930, Dominick married Mary Scalzo, who was a devoted mother to Joseph.
Joseph married Mary Ann Kathmann on September 21, 1952 , who predeceased him in 2012.
After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946. He later graduated from Delhi Tech, which is now SUNY Delhi. He was a Mason with BAC Local 5 for over twenty years and then an insurance adjuster for Volpe Adjusters and George Ferguson Adjusters.
Joseph was involved in Cornwall Little League and was a long time member of Bethlehem Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Storm King Golf Club. Joseph was a wonderful grandfather, who loved his grandchildren dearly.
Joseph is survived by his son Joseph Roscino, Jr. of Cornwall and his daughter Diana Bittner and her husband Stephen of Cornwall; his siblings, Dominick Roscino, Jr. and his wife Judy of Newburgh and Rose Talbot and her husband Maurice of Newburgh; his loving grandchildren: Amara and Mikayla; his sisters-in-law: Erna Chichester of East Meredith and Charlotte Kathmann of Delhi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Leon Chichester and Heinz Kathmann.
The family received visitors on March 30 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A funeral service was held on March 31 at Christ Lutheran Church in Newburgh and was followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

Judy Sylvester
October 15, 1957-March 25, 2014
Judy Sylvester of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into rest on March 25 at the age of 56.
The daughter of James and Rose Pikul Sylvester, she was born in Newburgh on Oct. 15, 1957. She was the owner of Positively Pets in New Windsor.
“Judy was loved by all,” her family said. “She was a true entrepreneur, owning several businesses, but her passion was her award-winning pet food store, Positively Pets. It was highly recommended by area veterinarians. She was actively involved with local pet shelters, as well as her own pet rescue.”
Survivors include her companion Eric Misture of Cornwall-on-Hudson; her sisters Sophie Tredor of St. Augustine, Fla., Francine Paquin of Cornwall and Caroline Sylvester of Washingtonville; her brother Fred Sylvester of Cornwall; her nephews James and Paul Paquin and their families; her niece Melanie Paquin and family; her two great nieces and two great nephews, and her beloved Pearl and Friendly.
The family received visitors on April 1 at the Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Inc. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Francis Church in Newburgh on April 2, and was followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
