Students excel in arts & academics

Montana Nogrady, a lifetime student of Step By Step Dance Studios in Cornwall, will be performing the Black Swan variation from “Swan Lake” at Cornwall Central High School at 5 p.m. on May 31. She will be wearing an award-winning costume designed by Toya Dubin, a 2013 Cornwall graduate. People can buy tickets for the performance by calling the studio at 534-3645.

Tiara Overton, a Wallkill resident with roots in Cornwall, has been selected to participate in the Miss Pre-Teen Poughkeepsie/Albany Pageant on April 27. Anyone interested in sponsoring Tiara can contact the pageant coordinator at 1-877-403-6678.

Lily Sones and Mariah Brooks finished first and second in a countywide substance abuse poster contest. Both girls are in the middle school.

All County Band: Middle school students Anna Bennett, Judith Bennett, Jonathan Gagnon, Zachary Hommel and Elizabeth Walklet are in the All-County Band.

Rachel Korykora has accepted an offer to participate in a summer fellowship program at the Library of Congress. She will be researching the degradation of media. Rachel is a graduate student, specializing in chemistry, in George Washington University’s Master of Forensic Science Program.

Sarah Korykora is on the dean’s list at Lehigh, where she is a sophomore in the IDEAS (Integrated Degree Engineering/Arts & Science) Honor Program.
