William G. Wickline

July 19, 1924-October 16, 2013

William G. Wickline of New Windsor died on Oct.16 at the age of 89.

The son of Gladys and Robert Wickline, he was born on July 19, 1924 in Beaver Falls, Penn. He was married to the former Vera Sherry, who passed awat in 1999.

Mr. Wickline was a retired District Sales Manager for Mack Trucks and a long-time resident of the area. He served in the Navy during World War II and was later involved in Scouting, the PTA and the Lions Clubs. He was a past director and a life member of the Storm King Golf Club and an honorary member of the Highland Engine Company.

He is survived by his son Danton R. Wickline and his wife Leanna of Macungie, Penn. and his daughter Sherry M. Hoey and her husband  Thomas F. Hoey Jr. of Newburgh; his daughter-in-law Betty Wickline of Summerville, S.C.; his sister Betty Lou McCoy and his brother Lyle Wickline both of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Gregory T. Wickline, who passed in 2008.

The family received visitors on Oct. 20 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A funeral service was conducted at the funeral home on Oct. 21, and was followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.

Alex Zale

November 16, 1923-October 17, 2013

Alex Zale of Cornwall died on Oct. 17 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, He was 89.

The son of Peter and Mary Palocz Zalutkewicz, he was born in New York City on Nov. 16, 1923. He was a proud veteran of the Navy, having served in World War II, and was retired after working as a Met Life representative in New York City.

Survivors included his wife Dolores Gloria Zale, at home; his son Russell Zale and wife Tricia of Campbell Hall; and his grandchildren Brendon and Jamie. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters.

The family received visitors on Oct. 20 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church on Oct. 21, and was followed by cremation at Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.
