Giannina (Jennie) Kelemen

January 20, 1923-October 12, 2013

Giannina (Jennie) Kelemen of Cornwall died at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh on Oct. 12. She was 90 years old and a former resident of Central Valley.

The daughter of Umberto and Ester Valentino Lalli, she was born in Italy on Jan. 20, 1923. She was married to the late John T. Kelemen.

She was a teacher’s assistant for the Cornwall Central School District, and was affiliated with the Woodbury Co-Op Nursery School and the Gate Keeper at Central Valley Pond.

Survivors include her sons John Kelemen and his wife Charlene of Central Valley. Thomas Kelemen and his wife Patricia of Florida, Michael Kelemen and his wife Karen of Wallkill, Andrew Kelemen of Clifford, Penn. and Theodore Kelemen and his wife Masako of Lilitz, Penn.; her sister Ema Crossetta of Rock Tavern, and her grandchildren John, Bryan, Amalia, Matthew, William and David Kelemen, Priscilla Montalto, Anna Kelemen and Malina Kelemen.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 18. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. Burial will be private.

Michael F. McGuire

Died October 13, 2013

Michael F. McGuire, of New Windsor, died at home on Oct. 13. He was 60 years old.

The son of Edward and Joan McDermott McGuire, he graduated from West Point in 1976. He was married to Ann P. Hurley McGuire, and was employed by Metro North in New York City as a terminal engineer.

He is survived by his wife Anne P. Hurley McGuire at home; his mother Joan McDermott McGuire; his son Sean McGuire and his wife Louise of Washington, D.C.; his daughters Keara McGuire of New Windsor and Kelly McGuire of New York City; his brothers Mark and his wife Mary, Steve and wife Mellanie, and Eddie and wife Suchin; and by his sister Patty Simmons and husband Paul. He was predeceased by his son Conor Michael McGuire.

The family received visitors at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson on Oct. 16. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Oct. 17 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was followed by burial with full military honors in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, N.Y.

Robert Bruce Van De Mark

Died October 8, 2013

Robert Bruce Van De Mark, a former resident of Cornwall, passed away in Brooksville, Fla. on Oct. 8. He was 72.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Van De Mark of Brooksville, and by his siblings Joseph K., Ruth, Shirley, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
