Dr. Irving M. Stillman

1933-2013

Dr. Irving M Stillman, 79, of Goshen passed away peacefully at Orange County Regional Medical Center on Aug. 14 after a short illness. He treated many patients in the Cornwall community.

Born in Brooklyn in 1933, he was one of five children to Phillip and Anna Stillman.  He received his M.D. at Washington University, Missouri and a double PhD in Chemistry and Physics from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He went on to specialize in Child Psychiatry.

Irving moved to the Hudson Valley in 1987 to pursue Child Psychiatry in New Windsor.  He was the medical director at the former McQuade Children’s Home for a number of years.  Up until his death, he provided services at his office in New Windsor, as well as at Sullivan County Community SVS. Irving was a beloved member of the community. He was most proud of having treated over 500,000 patients in his career.  He was an enthusiast of medicine, science   and the arts.

Irving is survived by a sister, Roslyn Polsky, three children, Phillip, Amy, and Aly and many patients & friends. A funeral service was held at Larchmont Temple  on Aug. 16, and was followed by burial at New Montefiore Jewish Cemetery  in Long Island.
