Obituary – July 26, 2013

Fred P. Malizia

Feb. 6, 1925-July 16, 2013

Fred P. Malizia, of Cornwall passed away suddenly in his home on July 16 beside his beloved wife.

Fred was born in West New York, N.J. on Feb. 6, 1925.  He served in three branches of the military, and retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Military Academy Band at West Point. While in the Army, Fred received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Afterwards, Fred taught business classes at NFA, working with high school students in the daytime and adult students (as an adjunct professor) at night.  He was also a tax preparer with Frank Scarzfava Bookkeeping Service, and the business manager for his daughter’s company, the Chiropractic Health Center of Walden, which is now the Hudson Valley Whole Life Center of Newburgh.

Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.   Nothing gave him greater joy than to be with his “girls”, his loving wife and family.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Dorothy; his two daughters: Marianne Malizia and her husband Theodore Maichosis; Dr. Carol Ann Malizia and her companion Kevin Hayes; granddaughter Michelle Marino (Rodemers) and her husband Richard Marino.  Many of those in our community and across the country were influenced by his loving demeanor and know that Fred has been welcomed into heaven with abundance.

The family received visitors on July 23 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home in Highland Falls.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated on July 24 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Chapel in West Point, and was followed by a full military burial with honors in West Point Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by William F. Hogan Funeral Home, www.wfhoganfuneralhome.com.
