Francis J. Stagliano

December 30, 1938-March 24, 2013

Francis J. Stagliano of Rock Tavern, NY, formerly of Cornwall, entered into rest on Sunday, March 24.  He was 74.

The son of Jane Williams Stagliano and the late Nicholas C. Stagliano, he was born on December 30, 1938 in Cornwall.

Francis graduated from Cornwall High School, Class of 1958.   He then joined the Naval Reserves and served six years.  Two of them were active duty, when he served on a heavy cruiser, the US Newport News CA148 6th fleet, visiting over 12 countries.  He went on to get his associate’s degree from Bergen County Community College, where he developed an interest in world history.  Francis retired from the federal government at West Point after 35 years of service.

Survivors include:  his mother, Jane; brothers Nicholas Stagliano, John Stagliano and Michael Stagliano; sisters Mary Jane Shaw and Kathleen Weir; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated on March 27 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery in   Bushnell, Fla.

Frank Rovello

December 30, 1939-March 21, 2013

Frank Rovello, a 34 year resident of the area, passed away on Thursday, March 21 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 73.

Son of the late Vincent J. and Madeline Pascarella Rovello, he was born in Queens, on Dec. 30, 1939. Frank was a retired Assistant Manager & Maitre d’ at the Arcola Country Club in Paramus, N.J. He was a member and past president of Cornwall Historical Society, member of The Club Managers Association of North Jersey; parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills, and a volunteer worker for Cornwall Public Library’s Tea and  a Classic Program.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat of Mountainville; daughter, Lorraine R. Salvo and her husband Chris of Highland Mills; brother, Savino Rovello and his wife Marie of Whiting, NJ;  sister, Renee J. Rovello-Cataldo and her husband Sal of Whiting, NJ;  grandchildren, Maxwell Frank and Cassandra (Casey) Juliette Salvo; nephew, James Rovello; niece,  Jill Harwell; aunts Anna & Kate; mother-in-law,  Hetty; many cousins and close friends.

Throughout his life Frank exuded positivity, warmth and humor and had a true zest for life and love for his family.  Known affectionately by his grandchildren as “Pasta”, he was a fun- loving, happy man, whose glass was perpetually half-full.

The family received visitors at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, in Highland Mills on March 26.  A funeral mass was celebrated on March 27at St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills. Interment followed in the Cemetery of The Highlands, Route 32, Highland Mills, NY.
