Christopher Birmelin
December 23, 1957-March 5, 2013
Christopher Birmelin passed on March 5 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Dec. 23, 1957 in Portchester to the late Arthur and Carmela Birmelin.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father who truly adored his wife and children more than anything. His biggest enjoyment in life was spending time with family. He followed all sports but was an avid golfer. He was proud to have served his country as a U.S. Marine. He was a dedicated and accomplished business man who was a partner in the Healey Brothers Group at Hyundai in Beacon. He touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was the kind of person who could make anyone feel special. We feel truly blessed for the time that we had with such an amazing man. He will always be an inspiration to all of us.
Survived by his loving wife, Michelle for 27 years, and children, Michael and Samantha. Also his brother, Arthur Birmelin of Florida, and sister, Nancy Bishop of Texas. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Philip Birmelin, and step mother, Veronica Birmelin. His many loving nieces, nephews, and more will all miss him.
The family received visitors on Friday, March 8 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 9, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church and was followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Peter L. Ransom
December 9, 1924-March 4, 2013
Peter L. Ransom of Murells Inlet, S.C. passed on March 4 in Myrtle Beach. He was 88 and a former resident of Cornwall.
The son of Peter and Mary Lyn Ransom, he was born in Wysox, Penn. on Dec. 9, 1924. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for the Town of Cornwall until his retirement in 1991.
He also worked tirelessly for Cornwall Little League from 1960 to 1983. His family said that he was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife Beatrice Schofield Ransom at home; his sons Gregory Ransom and wife Lori of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Lee Ransom and wife Debra of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and his grandchildren Sara Ransom, Paige Ransom and Candace Ransom.
He was predeceased by his first wife Eleanor Coutant Ransom, who passed in 1980.
The family did not receive visitors. A graveside ceremony was held on Saturday, March 9 at Woodlawn Cemetery and was followed by a celebration of Peter’s life at the Cornwall Presbyterian Church. Pastor Patricia Calahan officiated.
Anne Turner Warren
March 7, 1927-February 25, 2013
Anne Turner Warren, died on February 25 at home in Cornwall. She was 85.
She was born on March 7, 1927 in Staten Island to Arthur Oswald Bryan-Turner and Dorothy Iris Barlow.
She graduated from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University with a BFA in Art. It was there that she met her husband of 64 years, Porter Hilliard Warren.
Anne was a noted artist who worked and taught in the Hudson Valley. She received a Masters Degree in Art from SUNY New Paltz in 1986 and continued to show her work throughout the area. Her preferred media were watercolor and print making.
She was a member of many artistic organizations in the Hudson Valley, was a founding member of the Real Gallery in Cornwall, and was a docent at Storm King Art Center. She taught at the Garrison Art Center, and enjoyed teaching art to children, both privately and at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum .
Anne was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cornwall, where she served on the Alter Guild. She was an avid supporter of environmental causes, particularly in the Hudson Valley Region, which was reflected in her work.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband Porter Hilliard Warren, her sons, Bryan Hilliard and Phillip Hilliard, and her son-in-law, Leland Gene Avery.
Anne is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy (Ron) Terry of Cazenovia, N.Y. and Pamela (Peter Lawrence) Warren of Lexington, Mass.; her son, Edward (Carla Castillo) Warren, of Philadelphia; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Jane, Claire, Turner and García.
A private funeral service was held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cornwall, on Feb. 28. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville.
