There was some extra entertainment for people at the middle school show last week. Before the curtain went up, an ensemble from the high school pranced on stage and sang the opening number from “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.”
The third-grader was surprised that her grandmother knew almost all the songs in the school play. What the youngster didn’t know is that her grandmother would like to sing along with the cast.
On Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 12, kids knew the storm was coming. School would be canceled the next day, and after that they would be off for five days for a long President’s weekend.
It wasn’t their first choice, but when Dahlia Jones and Aneeka Phadnis got their parts they were happy. They had been separated this year after being classmates in third grade. Now they were together again — very much together!
Cornwall’s youth aren’t the only ones taking the stage this summer. David Ransbottom, a 2011 Cornwall High School graduate, has been performing with Just off Broadway, Inc.
