There were some good photo opportunities this week. The Class of 2016 held its senior prom at Anthony’s Pier 9 on Thursday night. As prom-goers arrived, faculty advisor Jacques Ponsolle checked their names against a master list.
For Gabby Fanning and Seth Goitia, finishing second was as good as winning. They were runners up in the state qualifying meet last weekend. But their times were fast enough to get them into the state championships in North Syracuse on June 10-11.
The state qualifying track and field meet was split over two days. On Thursday, Monroe-Woodbury hosted a half dozen events. There weren’t many spectators, so picture-taking was easy.
Trailing 2-0 in the first inning, pitcher Nick Torres noticed a teammate warming up on the sidelines. Nick thought his afternoon was finished. But it wasn’t.
On April 29, Cornwall resident Kim Quimby was among the six to be inducted into the Cornwall Wall of Fame. The induction ceremony was held at Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley.
