Re-enactors carry a cross on Good Friday. Pastor Winward carried hers to the Sunrise Service on Easter morning. She had made it with her family on the previous day.

Benefits of nature play outweigh risks

In the last 30 years, studies have shown a decrease in the amount of time children spend playing outdoors. Four generations ago, children wandered a mile or more from home, but with each passing generation the distance has drastically decreased.

“We never knew that,” some firefighters admitted after hearing the opening remarks at the Highland Engine Company dinner. The event was held at the fire house on March 14.
