PFOS blood-screening available

The New York State Health Department recently announced it would provide free blood testing for residents of the Newburgh area that may have been exposed to Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) found in Lake Washington, which had provided the City of Newburgh’s water supply until early May 2016.

Sugar Smacks lured dean to West Point

On June 24, Cindy Jebb was promoted to brigadier general and officially confirmed as the new Dean of the Academic Board at the United States Military Academy. Jebb, an 11-year resident of Cornwall before moving to West Point, is the 14th person to hold the position and the first female to do so. President Barack Obama nominated her for the position, making the announcement in May.

Judge adjourns Graswald case

Judge Robert Freehill was expected to make a decision, tomorrow, with regards to what evidence would be allowed in the trial of Angelika Graswald, who is accused of killing her fiancee, Vincent Viafore, in a kayaking incident last year.
